Bone Cancer
As with any other type of cancer, bone tumors are growths of abnormal bone cells. However, even if these bone growths, which are rare, occur, it does not mean that they are always cancerous: benign tumors (i.e., osteochondromas, benign chondromas, and chondromyxoid fibromas) are noncancerous; malignant tumors (i.e., multiple myeloma, osteosarcoma, fibrosarcoma, and chondrosarcoma)are cancerous and more rare than benign bone tumors. Primary bone tumors form within the bone itself, while metastatic bone tumors, which originate in other parts of the body (including in the prostate gland, lungs, kidneys, or breasts ), spread to the actual bone.
